Taco Tuesday and Upcoming Events

Thank you to all the families that came to our welcome back TACO TUESDAY PTA meeting.
 
We apologize for the delay in serving food. Due to circumstances out of our control the food was not prepared and was delivered late. We sincerely hope everyone had a good time, met new friends and gathered important info provided by the PTA and school staff. We hope to see you again at the next PTA association meeting on Oct 19 at 7:00 pm. We will treat everyone to dessert. YMCA will be available again to provide child watch.

PARENTS
 
Be active. Come to at least the first Council meetings. They occur after school once a month and review important info about our school, academics, budgets, and much more which is super important.
 
School Site Council (SSC) – council that decides how the budget is used and they develope the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
Local School Leadership Council (LSLC) – school calendar
Compensatory Education Advisory Committee (CEAC) – our Tiltle 1 committee
English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) – committee focused on English as second language learners
 
Check the main info board in the main lobby for upcoming meetings.
 
 
THIS FRIDAY..

PTA MEETING Sept 21 @ 6pm

Welcome back families of Germain Street! Now that the  new school year has started we would like to get together friends and meet some new faces.
PTA Welcome back FREE Taco dinnerTuesday Sept 21 at 6 pm. Join us at the Auditorium for a very brief meeting. Followed by a fun scavenger hunt for parents and kids. Then join us in a Terrific Taco Tuesday dinner!!! YMCA will be there to offer child watch during the meeting. Please walk your child to the YMCA build to sign them in.
If possible please return the RSVP (yellow form) by Monday afternoon so that we can get a close estimate of how many families will be coming.
Have you received your PTA packet? It has a list of the events for the year as well as membership info, t-shirt order form, reflections info, and very important direct donation. Without the support of the families and community we cannot help the students.

WHY ARE THESE PROGRAMS IMPORTANT

  • Computer literacy is no longer an option it is critical in our modern lives.
    • Our children need to learn early basic computer skills
    • For some families, the computer lab is their child’s only opportunity for hands-on-computer time
  • Music Classes
    • Imagine Germain Street with out its famous Holiday Concerts or end of the year musical performances.
    • Lets not stop the MUSIC!!!
  • Field trips provide students with positive experiences
    • Field trips support the academic curriculum with real word experiences.
